1722 Johann Caspar Delius founded a linen trading house in the city of Bielefeld.
His son Daniel Adolf Delius takes over the business during difficult times. During the 7-year-war the French are moving forward to Bielefeld. On 14th June 1757 the complete linen stock is destroyed through looting.
1787 Ernst August Delius sets up his own linen trading operation. In 1794 he starts to sell linen to America and the West India.
1827 Gottfried Delius joins the company as the fourth generation. His brother Gustav Delius follows him a little bit later. Difficulties arise due to the competition of the English machine spun yarns.
1848-49 The linen business comes to a complete stop.
1844 Hermann Delius and Carl Albrecht Delius as the fifths generation open up new ways. Hermann Delius builds a machine spinning mill, following British examples.
Carl Albrecht Delius starts the production of silk.
1881 Paul Delius leads the firm in its sixth generation. He focuses upon silk weaving and recognizes early on the importance of artificial silk.
1887 Manual silk weaving looms are being completely replaced by machines.
1917 Paul Delius achieves international importance with the help of his three sons Herbert, Wolf and Johann Daniel Delius.
1928 Fabrics made out of artificial silk are being produced.
1930 The production of upholstery and furnishing fabrics commences.
1937 The first completely automated weaving mill in Germany starts its production. During the world exhibition in Paris Delius is awarded the Grand Prix and the gold medal for furnishing and upholstery fabrics.
1960 Under the leadership of Ernst-August, Eduard and Reinhard Delius the Delius weaving mills are the most modern in Europe. They produce around 3,5 million meters of fabric monthly and have worldwide exports to 89 countries.
1995 Rudolf and Friedrich Wilhelm Delius take over responsibility in the ninth generation.
2007 Delius is fit for the challenges of the global future due to its well organized German and international production, its strong sales force and its emphasis on logistics and the development of fabrics.
Dr. Marc Schmidt has been managing the company together with Kai Hofmeister, the long-standing managing director, since 01.01.2020.
